Increase Power
Power is a measure of how fast you can move a weight. The more power you have the faster and stronger you will be. Sportsmen with the greater power run the fastest and hit the hardest. So if you want to boost your physical performance in any discipline ranging from the gym to the sports field aim to improve your power.
To increase power you need to develop muscles that are able to produce repeated contractions under conditions of fatigue. Research has found that the best way to do this is to do fast high repetition (15+) with light weight (30%-50% of your one rep max).
Many seasoned weight-lifters work muscle groups in pairs to increase their power. An example of this type of training would be to do triceps extension before a biceps curl or a barbell row before a bench press. This sort of opposite movement increases power in the second exercise and is thought to give faster results than when one muscle group is worked in isolation.
A useful supplement to help increase power is Pro Solo. Pro solo is an ergogenic aid. An ergogenic aid is something that:
• Improves physical performance beyond normally achievable levels.
• Enhances responsiveness to training.
• Accelerates recovery.
Pro Solo from CNP Professional will aid all three aspects as it is a unique combination of ingredients to assist in muscle growth, increase strength and endurance.
Another very useful supplement to think about when boosting your overall power is Creatine (see tomorrows blog).
Giving consideration to increasing power will put you ahead of your game!
